I'm a 21 year old photographer from "upstate" New York. Currently, I attend Loyola University Maryland studying biology and photography.
I spend a lot of time wondering what the value of a photograph is in our modern world. With endless amounts of pictures instantly at our fingertips, how does an image obtain and maintain its worth? Is it based on the platform by which it's showcased on? Is it based on the amount of "likes" the image gets?
Although there is not really an answer to this question, I believe that it neither of those things contribute to the value of a photograph. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder-- and that is true for all things including art. In attempt to add value to some of my photographs, I have removed them off of the internet. I also have chosen to produce a limited quantity of physical prints of the images you see on this website, in an attempt to preserve its value.
Over the past couple years, my photography has shifted from predominantly landscapes and things as they appear to the eye to more purposefully staged and surreal images. The way I view my own art over this period of time has changed radically and this platform helps me share what I learn about photography in this world with you.
